Just to make sure, just give him/her the boot. You've got nothing to lose. There's plenty of other people out there that you can recruit into your guild. May be, just may be this person is using a bot. You may never know for sure but it's better to kick them than keep guessing if they're using a 3rd program bot. You gotta be bold and confident. Make quick and smart decisions a leader would do since you are the leader of your guild.

An appropriate definition of a Guild: A guild is an association of people of the same trade or pursuits, formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards of morality or conduct.

Guilds are not for individuals. If one is not active or wishes to remain "solo", but wants a cool cape. then...KICK THE PLAYER!! Then demote yourself (for the OP)...why on earth would anyone recruit somebody without some background to begin with. In my early days of gaming online...I did it, I made mistakes like that. Recruiting is not just making numbers show up...it involves interviewing, interaction, teamwork, sustained activity...it is a process that continues even when the player is allowed to wear the cape and run around with your team name. Trusting a player must be kept to simple emotions...a deep involvement with players that treat guilds like "booty calls" is ridiculous. I know that some players join guilds to try to get whatever they can out of the other players...items, gold, help with a hard part of the game that they cannot work with henchies. To be honest, you should have a probation period. Put the individual on your friends list and make frequent contact. Let them know you are recruiting and would like to see them on your team. Establish the goals of your relationship by setting some rules. The friends list and activity for one is a start. If it does not work out where the "prospect" is showing interest, then move on. DO NOT MAKE STRANGERS GUILD OFFICERS!!! Im sure folks have read what happens when idiots are put in power... In summary, there are independent players, good players, team players...you need to find the right players for your guild. If you want to enhance your gaming experience, you will need to invest some time, patience and avoid the "live and learn" disappointments by being selective. Remember it is your guild and folks should want to be there...if not they will move on. So should you!!!

I am not trying to marry the guy, or give him a job working for me. We are a loose PVE guild - not a cut throat "what can you do for me now?" guild.

If that is how you want to run your guild, more power to you! For me - I am here to make friends and have some fun - not compete.
